How are your tomatoes doing this year ? : )
Every few days I have been canning tomatoes or making fresh sauce for dinner or freezing sauce. ( and of course eating tomatoes! :) I planted one Early Girl from the nursery…everything else …about 6-7 huge plants…are from seeds that I started. They are Mortgage Lifter Heirloom tomatoes. As you can see the latest round in the sink are all shapes and sizes.
One of the tomatoes in the sink has a greenish portion to it ( and I probably threw away a good ten small ones that were far worse )
Here is a closeup of the green…outside and in. I wonder if this is a blight of some sort.
Whatever it is, it’s gotten worse. Earlier on, I could cut the green out and use the rest of the tomato. Now if there is green on the outside, the tomato is bad almost the whole way through. We had a very rainy summer …I assume this is part of the reason. This is the first that I have encountered this on home grown tomatoes so I wonder if any of you have the same problem. I am in Western Pa.
